Book Review

Great Expectations is without a doubt a well-known and well written piece of literature, but not one that I particularly enjoyed. I found the book to be very dry and drawn out. In addition, I found the novel exceptionally challenging to relate to. It does take place during the time of adolescence my peers and I are currently going through, but little of the story is reminiscent of my life. Taking place in 18 century England this book is written in a language that I found hard to completely comprehend.
That being said, I wouldn’t recommend this book to a friend or someone my age, but would consider recommending to an adult who is looking for a challenging book, but a good book. A book that has a lot of symbols and that takes a keen eye and sharp mind to completely understand and process, and is fully worth the effort needed.
